Wilco are set to release an alternate version of their seminal album ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ for this year’s Record Store Day.Taking place on Saturday April 22, Record Store Day celebrates independent record stores around the world, giving fans the chance to buy special one-off collectable releases on vinyl, cassette and more.Wilco will release the new version of their 2002 record on vinyl for the annual event, dubbing it ‘Crosseyed Strangers: An Alternate Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’. It will comprise live recordings of ‘Radio Cure’, ‘Jesus, Etc.’, ‘Heavy Metal Drummer’, ‘Pot Kettle Black’, ‘Poor Places’ and ‘Reservations’, as well as different versions of ‘War On War’ and ‘I’m The Man Who Loves You’.Only 4,500 copies of the vinyl will be available for purchase through participating stores – search the directory here.‘Crosseyed Strangers’ was originally compiled by the band last year for Uncut magazine, to coincide with the record’s 20th anniversary.

Wilco have shared a previously unreleased, alternate version of their 2002 ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ cut ‘Kamera’, lifted from forthcoming deluxe editions of the album that are set to arrive in September.‘Kamera (The Unified Theory of Everything Version)’ is a significantly heavier take on the track, swapping out the primarily acoustic version that ended up on the album for electric guitars and propulsive drums.The new version will feature on both the super deluxe LP and CD reissues, as well as the deluxe LP and digital sets. All will be available September 16 via Nonesuch Records.

Wilco have announced a series of 20th anniversary reissues for their fourth album, ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ – pre-order them here.Seven special editions of the landmark album will be released via Nonesuch on September 16, including a Super Deluxe version made up of eleven vinyls and a CD.The aforementioned version includes demos, drafts, and instrumentals, charting the making of ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’, plus a live 2002 concert recording and a September 2001 radio performance and interview.The set also includes 82 previously unreleased music tracks as well as a new book featuring an interview with frontman Jeff Tweedy, drummer Glenn Kotche, and Jim O’Rourke, who mixed the acclaimed 2002 album; an in-depth essay by author Bob Mehr; and previously unseen photos of the band making the album in their Chicago studio, The Loft.For the Yankee Hotel Foxtrotrecording, Wilco was Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Leroy Bach, Glenn Kotche, and Jay Bennett with Craig Christiansen, Ken Coomer, Jessy Greene, Fred Lonberg-Holm, and Jim O’Rourke.A live rendition of ‘Reservations’ taken from ‘Snoozin’ At The Pageant – Live 7/23/02 At The Pageant, St. Louis, MO’ – a recording that is part of the Super Deluxe LP and CD sets as well as the Deluxe LP and digital sets – has been shared as a preview of the 20th anniversary reissue.
