Her assistant, Kiersten Mikelas, who had appeared beside her in additional footage while donning a face mask, posted a touching tribute message to her.It began by referencing the #BettyWhiteChallenge, in which she had previously invited followers to show how big their hearts were by donating to the cause of rescue animals."As we continue to see numbers coming in from all over the world — it's just absolutely amazing how much money all of you raised for the animals," Kiersten praised on Facebook."She could never have imagined such an outpouring of love and would have be so grateful to everyone. [sic]"It was just one of two videos the silver screen star had recorded back-to-back.The other was used in the film Betty White: A Celebration, which had debuted on what would have been her 100th birthday earlier this week."When we recorded her special message to fans who attended the movie, we also recorded one that we had planned to put on social media on her birthday," she explained,"She was using the occasion of her 100th birthday to celebrate YOU – her fans."She knew how lucky she was; she felt the love, and she never took it for granted."I think it's appropriate to post today as a thank you from Betty and the animals," she added of an initiative that had raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.Jeaninne Marie Kato replied on Facebook: "You are welcome, lovely lady.Thank you for all that you have done for us since the inception of television; and, for all that you have done for our animal friends.
