In most cases they’ve suffered little more than the equivalent of a nasty bout of flu.But a chilling new study suggests that even a mild case of Covid-19 could cause lasting brain damage.Autopsies of people who have died from Covid have identified irregularities in their brain tissue, but scientists at the Tulane National Primate Research Centre have conducted a series of tests on monkeys known to respond to Covid in a similar way to humans.The research, published in scientific journal Nature Communications, looked at the brain tissue of four rhesus macaques and four African green monkeys deliberately infected with the virus.

The Hold Steady have announced their eighth album ‘Open Door Policy’ – listen to lead single ‘Family Farm’ below.Following on from last year’s ‘Thrashing Thru The Passion’, the 11-track record is due for release in February on the band’s Positive Jams label (via Thirty Tigers).It was recorded at The Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, New York alongside producer Josh Kaufman and engineer D. James Goodwin.

Craig Finn, frontman for the Hold Steady, has announced a new album called All These Perfect Crosses. He’s also shared its title track. The LP was recorded during Finn’s sessions from his most recent solo album, last year’s I Need a New War. The double album arrives June 20 (via Partisan) for the recently rescheduled Record Store Day.
