HBO Documentary Films has given a green light to Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes, a six-part half-hour docuseries based on Ronan Farrow’s interviews, from Emmy winners Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (HBO’s Carrie Fisher: Wishful Drinking) and World of Wonder.

Wojnarowicz: F**k You F*ggot F**ker (★★★★☆) that maverick ’80s multi-media artist David Wojnarowicz took inspiration for his work from his turbulent life. In turn, this expressive documentary by director Chris McKim (Freedia Got a Gun) takes Wojnarowicz’s art and AIDS activism as inspiration for a bold cinematic portrait that elucidates the late firebrand’s place in LGBTQ history, while exciting a desire to examine his boundary-pushing output more closely.In kaleidoscopic fashion, the film, produced by WOW Docs, fuses images of Wojnarowicz’s paintings, and fragments from his archive of journals, cassettes, photographs, and Super 8 films, into a chronicle largely voiced by the artist himself.

EXCLUSIVE: World of Wonder Productions, the company behind the fierce Emmy-winning reality competition RuPaul’s Drag Race has announced a new makeup reality competition series Painted With Raven. Drag Race fan favorite and Emmy-winning makeup artist Raven will serve as host. RuPaul is set to serve as Executive Produced alongside Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey, and Tom Campbell of World of Wonder. The series will debut on WOW Presents Plus later this year and marks the first major competition series for the streaming platform.

EXCLUSIVE: Greenwich Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to Whirlybird from A&E IndieFilms. The doc, which premiered at last year’s Sundance, is the feature debut of Matt Yoka. It follows a husband-and-wife news helicopter team who covered some of Los Angeles’ most historic events.

Jazz Tangcay Artisans EditorAri Gold, the trailblazing LGBTQ artist who sang backing vocals for Diana Ross and Cyndi Lauper, has died of leukemia, World of Wonder Productions confirmed to Variety. He was 47.World of Wonder, the production company behind “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” worked closely with Gold on his collaborations with RuPaul.

EXCLUSIVE: Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to the Chris McKim-directed documentary Wojnarowicz which is also known for its full, and for some, controversial title, Wojnarowicz: F**k You F*ggot F*cker. The documentary which spotlights the artist and activist David Wojnarowicz is produced by Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey for WOW Docs and by McKim for Hobo Camp Films and will have a theatrical release on March 19 followed by VOD release on Kino Now and home video.
