Ted Hankey appeared in court on Wednesday after being with charged with sexual assault.The 54-year-old is alleged to have sexually touched a woman in Crewe, Cheshire in September last year and appeared before Warrington Magistrates Court for a brief hearing. He was granted conditional bail until April 14 when he is set to appear before the same court.Hankey, who dressed as a vampire and went by nickname The Count during his playing days, arrived at court with a black snood pulled up over his face, and spoke only to confirm his name, age and address at the hearing.A spokesman for Cheshire Police said at the time of his charge: "The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Cheshire Constabulary to charge Edward Hankey with the sexual assault of a woman."The CPS made the decision to charge the 54-year-old after reviewing a file of evidence from Cheshire Constabulary."The charge relates to an incident that occurred in Cheshire in September 2021."Hankey first qualified for the BDO world championship in 1998 and won the prestigious event in 2000 and 2009.
