Gladiator sequel gets release date CONFIRMED for late 2024

Ridley Scott's sequel to his 2000 movie Gladiator will be released on Nov. 22, 2024, Variety reported.It was also noted in an announcement from Paramount Pictures that Normal People actor Paul Mescal, 27, is in talks to lead the film.The yet-to-be-titled follow-up will be produced by Scott, Michael Pruss, and Doug Wick of Red Wagon Entertainment. Lucy Fisher and David Scarpa will write the script, which comes 24 years after Russell Crowe starred as Maximus Decimus Meridius.In the feature he portrayed a soldier from Rome who was forced into slavery but vowed vindication against Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix.

Russell Crowe details axed story idea for ‘Gladiator 2’

Gladiator 2.The actor, who played Maximus in Ridley Scott’s 2000 historical epic, recalled a conversation with producer Doug Wick suggesting a Bible-inspired plot development for the character, seeing him carried into a cave and resurrected a few days later.“Last time I talked to Doug,” Crowe began in an interview with Screen Rant, “he said he had this great idea where Maximus gets carried from the stadium and they pull back this big rock and he gets put into this cave and then the rock closes over and he’s anointed with oils.
