Michael van Gerwen set for op after 'tingling' up to 50 times a day in throwing arm
Michael van Gerwen has revealed he has been battling the injury which has ruled him out of the World Cup of Darts for 18 months.The Green Machine, who is in New York for the US Darts Masters, revealed at the start of the week that he had been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome and would undergo an operation on his wrist immediately after the Premier League play-offs in Berlin on June 13.As a result, he will miss the World Cup in Frankfurt, which begins on June 16, with his place in the Netherlands side going to Dirk van Duijvenbode. Van Gerwen intends to be back in action at 100 per cent by the World Matchplay in Blackpool, which starts on July 16.Van Gerwen has been struggling with the problem for some time and while it hasn’t affected his game directly, he regularly feels a tingling in his throwing hand, sometimes up to 50 times a day.“It’s not really when I’m playing darts but during the day, 20, 30, maybe 50 times, I get tingling in my hands.
