Pedro The Lion have dropped off a brand new surprise album titled ‘Havasu’ – you can listen to it below.The Seattle band – fronted by David Bazan – reformed back in 2017 and released their fifth studio album, ‘Phoenix’, two years later in 2019. Their latest LP is the second in a series of five, each chronicling Bazan’s past homes.This time, the frontman traveled to the namesake city in Arizona to revisit the sites – junior high campus, a “magical” skating rink, the lake – that populate his memories from seventh grade and evoke feelings long suppressed.“An intersection I hadn’t remembered for 30 years would trigger a flood of hidden memories,” Bazan said in a press release.

Two years ago, David Bazan was four weeks away from turning in Havasu, his sixth album as Pedro The Lion, when he called his label to tell them he was scrapping the deadline. The bones of the project fit together fine: this was the second in a five-album arc about Bazan’s childhood, each record devoted to a place he lived while his father, a Pentecostal music pastor, moved from flock to flock across the United States. Bazan had worked every bit as hard on Havasu as he had on Phoenix, the first in the series.

Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins has announced a new podcast series called Pass-Through Frequencies.Hosted by Fender Guitars, the show will see Adkins delve into the craft of songwriting and creative process through in-depth conversations with various special guests.Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is set to appear on the first instalment, which will air this coming Thursday (August 6). Participants of future episodes include Steve Aoki, Death Cab For Cutie‘s Ben Gibbard, Tegan Quinn, Fun’s Nate Reuss, Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional and David Bazan.“When I’m working on a song, it almost feels like I am channeling something,” Adkins explained.
