Known as the Masque d’Or (the Golden Mask), the award comes with a €6,000 ($7,264) grant.Adapted from Carl Sandburg’s 1922 poem, the project has taken shape in multiple, award-winning formats; the single-user experience, titled “The Hangman at Home VR,” won the Grand Jury Prize at last year’s Venice Film Festival, while an animated version claimed the Golden Dragon at the Krakow Film Festival earlier this month.The filmmakers are prepping a live performance version due to premiere later this year.

The filmmaking duo behind “The Hangman at Home VR” has further expanded the project into three new iterations, while simultaneously developing a separate animated feature.In June alone, the Kranots will launch three new standalone versions of their award-winning project, which is adapted from a Carl Sandburg poem, at three different events.A short film version, co-produced by Denmark, France, and Canada, recently claimed the Golden Dragon at the Krakow Film Festival, while the project will take two different forms at the NewImages and Tribeca festivals.

Into The Wild (2007), has died aged 95.The actor, who was best known for his one-man show Mark Twain Tonight! that was staged globally over six decades, died on January 23 at his home in California, his assistant confirmed yesterday (February 1).As The New York Times notes, some of Holbrook’s most memorable roles are as Deep Throat in All The President’s Men (1976), Republican Preston Blair in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln (2012), Father Malone in John Carpenter’s The Fog (1980), and Ron Franz in 2007’s Into The Wild, for which he received the Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod.Elsewhere, he won an Emmy award for portraying President Lincoln in Carl Sandburg’s 1974 mini series Lincoln and was a regular on the ’80s TV series Designing Women.

Hal Holbrook, the five-time Emmy-winning actor who was famed for portraying Mark Twain, has died at the age of 95. Holbrook died on January 23 at his home in Beverly Hills, his assistant told The New York Times.
