Corrie's Sam Aston discusses Chesney character's potential exit after nearly two decades
Coronation Street actor Sam Aston has addressed speculation over whether or not he intends to leave the soap after nearly two decades.28-year-old Sam first appeared on the cobbles as Chesney Brown back in 2003.He appeared on a recent episode of ITV's Loose Woman alongside his childhood sweetheart Briony Gardner who is expecting their second child.Sam opened up about his future on Corrie after being asked by Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter about whether he's considering exiting the soap in the near future.She asked him: "Is there any chance you could suddenly branch out and be somebody else or is that character and you so closely intertwined now?"He replied: "I've played him for so long, but I've been lucky, because I've had so many storylines over the years that they always test you and it's a new thing to sink your teeth into."So, I've not really entertained the idea right now. I don't know, maybe not."The Corrie star added that his time on the soap has "flown", adding that he feels "very lucky" to have been a part of it.He said: "I can't believe it and I'm very lucky.
