EXCLUSIVE: Following the success of Top Gun: Maverick and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Paramount Pictures is looking to get the wheels turning on another popular franchise as sources tell Deadline a new Cloverfield pic is in the works with Babak Anvari directing and Joe Barton writing the script. J.J. Abrams is producing from Bad Robot, along with Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen. Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves, and Drew Goddard will executive produce.

William Earl Another chapter in the “Cloverfield” universe is coming. “Wounds” director Babak Anvari has been tapped to helm the newest installment of the hit horror series. J.J. Abrams is producing from Bad Robot, along with Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen. Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves, and Drew Goddard will executive produce. Joe Barton, who penned the 2017 cult horror hit “The Ritual,” is set to write the script. This next installment is currently in development at Paramount Pictures, and will be the fourth chapter in the experimental sci-fi series. The first film, 2008’s “Cloverfield,” was a found footage alien invasion movie which became a sleeper hit. The second chapter, 2016’s “10 Cloverfield Lane,” modified an existing script to fit within the “Cloverfield” universe and became a commercial and critical hit, anchored by strong performances from Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman. The third installment, 2018’s space thriller “The Cloverfield Paradox,” was widely panned but gained notoriety as Netflix announced the project during the Super Bowl, confirming that fans would be able to watch it immediately after the game.

The multi-talented Brandy is putting on her acting cap once again, joining the cast of the A24 psychological horror film The Front Room.The actress, born Brandy Norwood, is starring in the film alongside Kathryn Hunter, Andrew Burnap and Neal Huff, via Variety.Brandy also shared the news on Instagram, while sharing several other posts revealing that production started on Thursday, under the direction of The Eggers Brothers - Max and Sam Eggers - the younger brothers of The Northman director Robert Eggers. New role: The multi-talented Brandy is putting on her acting cap once again, joining the cast of the A24 psychological horror film The Front RoomThe story centers on, 'a young, newly pregnant couple forced to take in an ailing stepmother who has long been estranged from the family.'No details were given for any of the characters played by Brandy, Hunter, Burnap or Huff at this time.

A24 is teaming up with filmmakers Max Eggers (The Lighthouse) and Sam Eggers (Olympia) — otherwise known as The Eggers Brothers —  on their feature directorial debut, The Front Room, a psychological horror pic that will star Brandy Norwood (Queens), Kathryn Hunter (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Andrew Burnap (Snow White) and Neal Huff (Waves).

The Eggers brothers, whose older sibling Robert Eggers has collaborated with A24 on “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse,” will be directing in their feature filmmaking debut. They adapted the screenplay from Susan Hill’s short story of the same name. “The Front Room” follows a young, newly pregnant couple forced to take in an ailing stepmother who has long been estranged from the family.  Along with Norwood, the ’90s music icon who is also of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Moesha” and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” fame, is co-starring alongside Kathryn Hunter (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”), Andrew Burnap (“WeCrashed,” Broadway’s “The Inheritance”) and Neal Huff (“Spotlight”).
