The Boys creator Eric Kripke has addressed the misogynistic hate that’s been levelled against one of the show’s cast members, Erin Moriarty.Posting to Twitter today (September 8), Kripke called Moriarty’s critics “trolls”, and wrote that the treatment of the actor — who plays the role of Annie January across the show’s three seasons — is “causing pain to real people with real feelings.”“This is literally the opposite of the show’s fucking message,” Kripke said, “Be kind. If you can’t be kind, then eat a bag of dicks, fuck off to the sun & don’t watch [The Boys], we don’t want you.”Hi trolls! One, this is literally the opposite of the show's fucking message.

Just weeks after filming began on Season 4 of The Boys, star Erin Moriarty is calling out fans for trolling her.The 28-year-old actress plays Annie January, a.k.a. Starlight, in the hit Amazon Studios series, and she noticed a Medium article that addresses the trolling.The New York City native admitted that the trolling has made her feel 'silenced' and 'dehumanized' as a result, thanking the article's author (@butcherscanary) and revealing her thoughts in a heartfelt post.

Erin Moriarty is calling out the “misogynistic trolling” she has experienced by some fans who watch Amazon’s The Boys. The actor portrays the character of Annie January, Starlight, who has been heavily criticized.

On Tuesday night, Moriarty reposted a fan article titled “#IStandWithStarlight?: The Betrayal of Erin Moriarty by The Boys Fans” to her Instagram account. The piece, written by Instagram user @butcherscanary, points out the misogynistic hate that Starlight, and therefore Moriarty, has received via subreddits and social media during her time on “The Boys.” “The harassment feels all the worse given the context of her role as Starlight on the show, a woman silenced and sexualized, treated like a celebrity canvas for others to project onto rather than a human being with her own thoughts and feelings,” the article reads. “But Annie is fictional, and Erin is not. The torment doesn’t end for her when the credit starts, because there is no switch off.”
