Man City vow to pay matchday staff for rest of the season amid coronavirus pandemic

Manchester City have agreed to pay their casual matchday staff for the rest of the season. City have written to around 1,000 workers to assure them they will be compensated for potential loss of earning due to the suspension of football because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Those working as stewards, in ticketing support and event operations received the letter, signed by City’s chief operating officer Omar Berrada, by email on Wednesday.

Staff will be paid for matches they were due to work at the Etihad Stadium, including the postponed fixtures against Arsenal and Burnley, as well five other schedules fixtures , including the Champions League last 16 second leg tie with Real Madrid.
