He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson has begged the country to show patience as lockdown speculation goes into overdrive. The Prime Minister will unveil his roadmap out of restrictions next Monday - unlocking England in “cautious” stages, probably separated by a few weeks.

We know schools and outdoor recreation will be first, followed by non-essential shops, then finally pubs, restaurants and cafes.

But there are more unanswered questions than answered ones. No10 sources have batted away speculation that pubs will reopen in May - and flat denied claims they’ll only open when new cases are below 1,000 a day.

Of course, we know not to always believe 10 Downing Street. But frankly, it is speculation - because the final decisions simply haven’t been made.
