LCD Soundsystem have performed ‘One Touch’ live for the first time at their New York residency this week (November 16) – check out the moment below.It was the band’s opening night at their 12-date New York City residency that will cover venues in three different boroughs: Brooklyn Steel from November 16 to 19, Manhattan’s Terminal 5 from November 28 to December 1 and Queens’ Knockdown Center from December 7 to December 10. Any remaining tickets for those shows are available here.The band’s 60th appearance at Brooklyn Steel saw them do a mix of deep cuts, hits and a cover of Harry Nilsson’s ‘Jump Into The Fire’.‘One Touch’ from ‘This is Happening’ received its live debut, delighting fans at the show.

LCD Soundsystem began their residency of shows at London’s O2 Academy Brixton last night (June 27) – you can watch fan-shoot footage and see last night’s setlist below.The James Murphy-led band are playing six nights at the venue, with the second and third due to take place tonight and tomorrow (June 28-29).The final three gigs will then take place from Friday through to Sunday (July 1-3) – any remaining tickets are available here.LCD kicked off their first show last night with ‘Get Innocuous!’, with tracks from the band’s 2005 self-titled debut, 2007’s ‘Sound Of Silver’ and 2010’s ‘This Is Happening’ dominating the setlist.Closing with ‘Home’, the band returned to the stage for a three-song encore which consisted of ‘New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’, ‘Dance Yrself Clean’ and set-closer ‘All My Friends’.You can watch fan-shot footage from the gig and see the setlist below.Considering I literally own the Blu-ray of their "last ever performance" recorded a decade ago, I didn't expect to ever be able to see LCD Soundsystem live. LCD Soundsystem have announced two more locations for their residency series, with the band set to perform multiple gigs in Oakland and San Francisco in August.James Murphy and co. will kick off the Bay Area run at Oakland’s Fox Theater on August 16, playing three more shows at the venue across consecutive evenings.

LCD Soundsystem played Guardian Angels in a skit in the latest episode of Saturday Night Live (February 26).The band were the musical guests on the show, performing ‘Thrills’ and ‘Yr City’s A Sucker’ from their 2005 debut album. They were joined by John Mulaney as host.During the show, they took part in a skit titled “Subway Churro”, in which a man (Andrew Dismukes) surprises everyone by buying a churro in a random subway station.The SNL cast take on spoofs of Broadway hits to express the peculiarities of New York, including why churros are taboo subway snacks, mole people, subway stabbings and strange liquid on the floor.LCD Soundsystem arrive at the end of the sketch, dressed in Guardian Angels’ gear, proclaiming “We’re the Guardian Angels and if you’re looking for a fight, you’ve gotta go through us!”. The Guardian Angels were a volunteer organisation founded in 1979 to combat violence and crime on the New York City Subway system.They’re met by a Jesus lookalike in a beer helmet, who they then serenade along with the rest of the SNL cast, singing a parody of ‘Superstar’ from Jesus Christ Superstar.

The two sets of shows will mark the band’s first live dates of 2022.In November 2021, LCD Soundsystem began their Brooklyn Steel residency, where the band were scheduled to play a run of 20 gigs in New York City.The news arrived just a few months after frontman James Murphy said that the band were “on a full hiatus”.Their first gig since 2018 took place November 23 and saw the band cover Joy Division’s ‘No Love Lost’ alongside tracks from across their back catalogue.
