Daniel Radcliffe has been forced to deny that he has coronavirus, after a viral fake tweet claimed he had contracted the virus.

A fake Twitter account with the handle @BBCNewsTonight and the name BBC Breaking News yesterday shared a tweet reading: ‘BREAKING: Daniel Radcliffe tests positive for coronavirus.

The actor is said to be the first famous person to be publicly confirmed.’ The tweet then linked to the BBC News Alerts website.

While the account had only 125 followers and is in no way linked to the BBC, the tweet went viral and was retweeted by a number of journalists, including New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman and editorial director for Politico Blake Hounshell.
