Coronavirus: Premier League warned about duty to offer financial support in crisis

Premier League clubs have to help out financially those lower down the football ladder after the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

That is the view of former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp, who reckons many lower league clubs could be in danger of going out of business in the coming weeks and months.

Football in the UK and all over Europe has been ground to a halt due to the chaos surrounding the virus and its impact. No games will be played until at least April 4 but this date is likely to be put back even further as health worries continue further.

The British government has pledged £330billion to help small British businesses deal with the crisis, which clubs in the lower divisions of English football are eligible for.
