Coronavirus: Government passes the buck on workplace safety telling staff to raise issues themselves

Ministers have told workers they will have to take on dangerous bosses who ignore coronavirus health and safety fears themselves.

The Business Secretary refused to say that employees can leave their workplace if they feel unsafe, instead advising worried to staff to take up their concerns with their boss.

Alok Sharma said if that does not work to escalate the problem to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and they can help and do spot checks.
