The BBC has come under fire from MPs and campaigners for airing scenes of a Little Mix star’s dog with mutilated ears. The show featuring Leigh-Anne Pinnock and her pit bull terrier Kyro comes as the Government is to ban the importation of the dogs.
MP Dr Neil Hudson branded the screening of the scenes as “ill-judged”. The vet added: “Ear cropping is a cruel, horrific and unnecessary practice that is rightly illegal in the UK. “Celebrities and people in public life have a role to play here by not endorsing or promoting the ownership of cropped dogs.” People caught cropping ears face a maximum six-month jail term.
