Anthony Hopkins on Tuesday celebrated 45 years of sobriety with a hopeful message to those afflicted with alcohol and/or substance abuse, especially his younger fans.
The Oscar-winning actor posted a one-minute video message to Twitter in which he offered insight and thoughtfulness. After acknowledging how difficult 2020 has been for so many people, the film and TV star said, "Forty-five years ago today, I had a wake-up call.
I was heading for disaster drinking myself to death," Hopkins said, adding "I got a little message that said: 'Do you want to live or die?' and I wanted to live." Hopkins said he has "off days" and sometimes some "doubt," but stressed to those struggling to be strong.
