Social media is abuzz about one of the first films that could be sweeping award season this year. Malcolm & Marie, which was filmed secretly during the first lockdown over the summer, is due to land on Netflix in February.

The first trailer for the black and white film arrived over the weekend and it has created quite a stir. The heatbreaking romantic drama sees Zendaya, who won her first Emmy in 2020, star alongside John David Washington who rose to fame after his appearance in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman.

The official Netflix synopsis reads: ‘Sam Levinson teams up with Zendaya and John David Washington for an achingly romantic drama in which a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie
