Pillow Queens have become the first band to boycott this year’s edition of Latitude festival over its sponsorship with Barclays and their ties to Israel.The Irish indie rock band – comprised of Pamela Connolly, Sarah Corcoran, Rachel Lyons and Cathy McGuinness – took to their social media to share a statement explaining why they have pulled out of the Suffolk music festival.“Last week it came to our attention that Latitude – a festival we were booked to play in the UK in July – lists its headline partner as Barclays. A May 2024 report by Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) details Barclays financial ties to companies producing weapons and military technology used in Israel’s attacks on Palestinians,” began their statement.“It reveals that Barclays has increased its financial ties with companies arming Israel,” it continued.

Pillow Queens have announced a new album titled ‘Name Your Sorrow’ and have shared its lead single ‘Gone’.The Irish indie rock band – comprised of Pamela Connolly, Sarah Corcoran, Rachel Lyons and Cathy McGuinness – are set to release their third LP on April 19. ‘Name Your Sorrow’ is available for pre-save/pre-order here.With lyrics “Tried to be your rock / But I’m just your fool / I could make it stop / but I’m not that cool / I was in your top five things to do”, the album’s lead single ‘Gone’ describes the exiting of a collapsing relationship.Speaking about the track in a press release, Pillow Queens said “‘Gone’ is a song that looks into the vapid nature of brief romantic encounters and the hyperbole that can become so monotonous, it makes you jaded.”Lead vocalist, guitarist and bassist Pamela Connolly added, “Lines like, ‘I was in your top five things to do’ convey a lack of self-worth that’s tackled throughout the album.

SXSW Festival has announced another wave of acts for its 2022 edition.The annual music, film and media event is set to return to Austin, Texas between March 14-20 after its 2020 and 2021 festivals were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.Yesterday (January 26) it was announced that Wet Leg will take to the stage at SXSW ’22 ahead of releasing their anticipated, self-titled debut album on April 8.Other additions to the bill include Big Joanie, Pom Pom Squad, Pillow Queens, Balming Tiger, Cassandra Jenkins, La Doña, Mélat and many more.
