NNAMDÏ wants you to hum along
“I Don’t Wanna Be Famous,” the lead single from NNAMDÏ's second album, Please Have a Seat, is a pop-rap track about becoming grossly, conspicuously, exhaustingly famous. Here NNAMDÏ lives in a world of Patek Phillipe watches, diamonds, and private jets. People see him on TV and roll their eyes at his ubiquity.

In late June, NNAMDÏ shared “I Don’t Wanna Be Famous,” announced his sixth studio album Please Have a Seat, and revealed the dates of his fall North American tour. He’s back today with “Anti,” a second single from the LP that arrives alongside an inventive visual treatment brought to life by Austin Vesely.

Lala Lala announces new album, shares single with NNAMDÏ, tour dates
Lala Lala, aka Lillie West, has announced that her new album I Want The Door To Open will be released this October on Hardly Art. The follow-up to the Chicago-based musician’s excellent 2018 album The Lamb (which we mistakenly put on our Best Albums of 2019 list), I Want The Door To Open is “sonically bigger and thematically more outward-looking” than past Lala Lala music, featuring contributions from WHY?’s Yoni Wolf, Nnamdi Ogbonnaya, Kara Jackson, OHMME, Adam Schatz, Sen Morimoto, Christian Lee Hutson, Kaina Castillo, Hand Habits’ Meg Duffy, Will Miller, Gia Margaret, Josiah Wolf, and Ben Gibbard.

BRAT
Nnamdi Ogbonnaya’s music was never easy to pin down, but on his new album BRAT, now under the mononym NNAMDÏ, the Chicago multi-instrumentalist seems focused on confounding expectations. BRAT, out today via Sooper, is a record about self-analysis, a real-time attempt to change for the better by picking apart personality traits one by one. That’s a huge lyrical undertaking on its own, but only an artist with NNAMDÏ’s absurd range could change gears so quickly from one song to the next, inspecting each different emotion in turn and relaying their precise colors in detail.
