Bosses are poised to splash the cash to stop a rival broadcaster snapping up the duo who have been nurtured by the channel — and who go head-to-head in Saturday’s BBC Strictly final.
Countryfile host Helen, 39, is partnered with Spaniard Gorka Marquez, 32, and is 7/4 to win while CBeebies favourite Hamza, 32, who dances with new Polish pro Jowita Pryzstal, 28, is at 4/9.
Helen, who made her name on Blue Peter 15 years ago and Hamza, who it is believed may get his own nature show, have been sensational almost from the start, getting high scores from the judges.
