Spain lifts Covid travel rule as Netherlands ends restrictions and open doors to unvaccinated

Another Covid requirement in Spain is being rolled back, while the Netherlands has axed all travel rules and requirements. The Dutch move marks the first time unvaccinated visitors will be allowed entry.

As of September 20, arrivals are no longer required to fill out a health control form to enter Spain. The announcement comes just days after Spain extended its Covid entry rules to mid-November.The news follows the end of all Covid rules in the Netherlands from September 17, even to those travelling from outside the EU and Schengen area.

Unvaccinated non-EU travellers were previously banned from entering the country.A statement from Spain's Ministry of Health said: "As of Tuesday, 20 September 2022, the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) portal, both the website and the mobile applications (APPs), will no longer be operational.

It will no longer be necessary to complete the health control form to travel to Spain nor to show the SpTH QR code at the airport of arrival."Vaccinated travellers are exempt from testing rules but those unvaccinated must provide either a negative Covid test (PCR or lateral flow) or proof of recovering from Covid in the last six months.Spain's Covid entry requirements were extended to November 15, including proof of vaccination for those who have been jabbed.
