Thug stabbed bride-to-be wearing inflatable penis costume on her hen do
attack on bride-to-be Laura Inglis, who was out celebrating ahead of her wedding to partner Jill Hutchinson at Eaglesham Pavilion and Playing Fields in East Renfrewshire, Scotland on June 12, 2021.Using a "sharp implement" to "repeatedly stab" Laura's costume, McKinnon's attack left the 23-year-old, who played for 2021 Scottish Women's Football League winners Bishopton Ladies, so shaken she did not contact police until later that day, reports the Paisley Daily Express.McKinnon was tracked down by police and charged with possessing a knife in public, and for the attack on the costume worn by Laura to which he was said to have shown "utter disregard to the consequences." McKinnon pleaded guilty to the conduct charge, however prosecutors changed the charge to say he'd used a "sharp implement" rather than a knife to stab the costume, and accepted his not guilty plea to the knife possession charge. To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.At his sentencing at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, McKinnon's defence solicitor, Tony Callahan said McKinnon had turned his life around after a battle with alcohol addiction. He explained that McKinnon is expecting his first child with his partner in October, and continued his fight to remain sober.McKinnon's solicitor also asked that he be placed on a Community Payback Order, where he would be supervised by social workers. However Sheriff Gillian Craig did not agree, stating that she believed he was motivated enough to help himself, and instead deferred sentencing for four months to "keep an eye on him."McKinnon was told to stay out of trouble and to return to the dock in October.
