Phil Chen: Last News

Phil Chen was a prolific session bassist who played with Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck, and Ray Manzarek (1939–2013) and Robby Krieger of the Doors.  Chen was an in-demand bassist who performed and recorded with many rock legends including Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck. The Jamaican born Chen played on Stewart’s hit song “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and on Beck’s classic 1975 album “Blow by Blow.” He was a member of the Butts Band with ex-Doors Robby Krieger and John Densmore and later joined Krieger and ex-Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek in their band Manzarek-Krieger.

Brian May shared unearthed pictures of him playing alongside Phil Chen as part of his Star Fleet Project.The 74-year-old described the late musician as a "great chap and a fine player" as part of a lengthy tribute on Instagram.The Queen singer looked unrecognisable as he posed with his guitar alongside Phil, Ed Van Halen and Alan Gratzer.Other pictures showed him and Phil enjoying other recording sessions together.The late musician was a member of Brian's Star Fleet Project back in 1983.Taking to his page, the singer wrote: "Paying respects to the great bass player Phil Chen.Julia Bradbury inundated with replies as she posts update on cancerA post shared by Brian Harold May (@brianmayforreal)"These blurry pictures of him are from the back
