Original Pavement drummer Gary Young has died, aged 70

Pavement, has died at the age of 70.Young’s death was confirmed by his former bandmate Stephen Malkmus today (August 18) via a social media post. Malkmus, who fronted pioneering indie-rock band Pavement with Young, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg and Mark Ibold, wrote on Twitter/X: “Gary Young passed on today. Gary’s Pavement drums were “one take and hit record”… Nailed it so well.
