Queen's maids of honour from her coronation died the night before Her Majesty's state funeral.Lady Mary Russell was the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Haddington and one of the six women at the late monarch's coronation in 1953.Lady Russell died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, September 18, the night before Her Majesty's funeral. READ MORE: Meghan and Harry told 'people will stop believing you' after 'exaggerating' claims She was 88 years old.In an obituary in the Times, Lady Russell was described as a "beloved wife of David, much-loved mother of Arabella, Anthony, Philip, Jason and Mariana, and dearly loved by her 12 grandchildren".Lady Mary was the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Haddington, and one of six women who helped carry Queen Elizabeth's 21ft train as she walked through Westminster Abbey towards the Archbishop of Canterbury, then Georffrey Fisher.At the impressive coronation, the six maids of honour wore embellished silver gowns, tiaras and long silk gloves and helped to carry Her Majesty's 21ft train.Lady Mary previously said of the special day: "Of all the girls our age in the country, we six girls were chosen to carry the Queen's train and that meant a great deal."It was overwhelming and moving – especially during the anointing… It was an incredible moment, but all I could think about was how heavy the embroidery felt."Lady Mary is the second of the six maids of honour to die - Lady Moyra Campbell became the first when she passed away in 2020.The two are survived by Dowager Baroness Glenconner, Lady Jane Lacey, Baroness Willoughby de Eresby, and Lady Rosemary Muir, the remaining four maids.Lady Russell was one of a number of friends left behind when the Queen died on
