Sally Kellerman (1937–2022), actor played “Hot Lips” Houlihan in “M*A*S*H”
Sally Kellerman was an Oscar-nominated actor for her role as “Hot Lips” Houlihan in the movie “M*A*S*H” and starred in “Back to School.” Sally Kellerman had a long career in Hollywood, starting out mostly in guest roles on television series before moving to featured roles on the big screen. Her film debut was in the 1957 film “Reform School Girls,” and she appeared on many TV shows in the 1960s including “Ben Casey,” The Outer Limits,” and a memorable role in the “Star Trek’ episode titled “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” Kellerman may be best remembered for her Oscar-nominated role as the uptight “Hot Lips” Houlihan in the 1970 Robert Altman satire “M*A*S*H.” She played a free-spirited professor romanced by Rodney Dangerfield in the hit comedy “Back to School” and worked with Altman again in 1992’s “The Player.” Recently, she starred on the Marc Maron series “Maron.” The husky voiced Kellerman was also a singer who released albums and appeared on movie soundtracks.
