Kate Middleton to leave Prince William behind in overseas trip as she steps up for Queen
Kate Middleton is ”looking forward” to embarking on a rare tour overseas as she heads to Denmark without her husband Prince William. The Duchess of Cambridge will be flying solo as she heads to Copenhagen for a two-day visit on February 22 and 23 as she looks to help support the Queen during her Platinum Jubilee year.Kate’s visit will also continue the long-standing relationship between the British and Danish royals as she is scheduled to meet members of the family. She will meet Queen Margrethe II, who is celebrating her own Golden Jubilee this year, and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. The Duchess is also believed to want to use the occasion to learn about Denmark's work with early childhood development by seeing their work first hand.Kensington Palace said: "During her visit, Her Royal Highness will spend time learning about how Denmark has created an enabling culture for early childhood development, specifically how it has promoted infant mental wellbeing alongside physical health, and how it harnesses the power of nature, relationships and playful learning in the first five years of life."Her programme will focus on innovative initiatives and projects which support children in their growth, particularly their social and emotional development, as well as their parents and wider communities surrounding them."Kate launched her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in June last year and her trip to Denmark is seen as a learning opportunity for how development is approached in other countries. The Duchess has demonstrated a commitment to improving our knowledge of early years during her times as a royal and also established a steering group for early years in May 2018.For the latest breaking news from the Royal Family
