Meghan Markle and Prince Harry criticised for ‘just talk’ following award acceptance
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been publicly blasted after they won a civil rights award — with one expert questioning what they did to deserve it.The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were the winners of the NAACP’s President Award on Saturday (March 5), which is given for 'special achievement' and 'distinguished public service' in humanitarian work.A made-up Meghan said on stage at the ceremony: “We are so deeply humbled to be here in the company of so many illustrious awardees."Harry meanwhile referenced the crisis in Ukraine, saying: "We would like to acknowledge the people of Ukraine, who urgently need our continued support as a global community."I think it's safe to say that I come from a very different background from my incredible wife, yet our lives were brought together for a reason. We share a commitment to a life of service, a responsibility to combat injustice and a belief that the most often overlooked are the most important to listen to."But commenting on their win, royal expert Angela Levins suggested that they had been handed it for merely talking about issues, as opposed to actually achieving anything.She said on Twitter: “Archewell Foundation partners with NSSCP [sic] have created new honour Digital Civil Rights Award which it seems Harry and Meghan have won.“Apart from creating it someone please tell me exactly what they've done not just talked about for civil rights.”Online royal fans have also slammed the decision, with some claiming the couple haven't done anything to deserve it.One royal fan said: "They won an award?? For what??? Seriously.
