The Broadway star died at the age of 41 on Sunday morning after spending more than 90 days in hospital battling complications of the coronavirus, which saw him develop pneumonia and undergo a leg amputation.
His devastated wife Amanda Kloots, who shares a one-year-old son with Nick, took to Instagram last night to break the news to fans.
Following the announcement, stars across the entertainment industry have been flooding social media with tributes to the much-loved star.
Ariana Grande said "I am so sad. Rest in peace Nick," as she shared a photo of the actor with her brother Frankie who had been a good friend of his.
