After temporarily shuttering amid a surge in Covid cases last March, China’s Shanghai Disneyland will reopen to the public this week, management at Shanghai Disney Resort said today. Ticket sales and annual pass reservations resume from tomorrow and the park will then return to operations on Thursday, June 30. Shanghai ended its strict lockdown earlier this month.

Shanghai Disneyland has again closed its gates, just four days after reopening them, in order to comply with “the requirement of pandemic prevention and control.”

After several closures and reopenings throughout the pandemic, Shanghai Disneyland is again set to resume operations, on Friday November 25. The Shanghai Disney Resort said it would continue to operate with limited daily capacity and implement “enhanced health and safety measures.”

We look forward to seeing you soon,” they concluded.Chinese officials reported 1,807 new symptomatic COVID cases on March 13 and two people died from the virus over the weekend, the first couple in over a year.The Shanghai Disney Resort first put a halt to functionalities because of COVID-19 back in January 2020.

Shanghai Disney Resort shifted down to reduced capacity on Saturday, amid a Covid surge throughout China fueled by the spread of the Omicron variant.

Two days after more than 30,000 visitors were locked in Shanghai Disneyland for hours on Sunday by Chinese government officials and forced to test negative for Covid-19 before they were allowed to leave, the park announced today that “Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown will resume operations on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, with Shanghai Disneyland operating from 10:00 to 19:00, and Disneytown operating from 10:00 to 21:00.”

The Shanghai Disney Resort has said it will reopen some of the shopping, dining and entertainment options on Monday, though the main theme park will remain closed to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
