Lana Del Rey hits back at critics in angry post for suggesting her lyrics ‘glamorise abuse’

Lana Del Rey has defended herself on social media after some critics suggested lyrics in her music are ‘anti-feminist’. In a lengthy post on Instagram, which she called ‘Question for the culture’, Lana called out double standards in the music industry.

She noted that other high-profile female artists including Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Beyoncé have had number ones with ‘songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f**king, cheating’, while she faced criticism for her lyrics.

Lana suggested she had been accused of ‘glamorising abuse’ but defended herself by noting that she sings about ‘being embodied’ and ‘feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect’.
