Harry Potter teachers now - sad deaths, secret cancer battle and JK Rowling controversy

Harry Potter marked a generation, and with many fans growing up watching the film series or reading the books, both the actors and the characters have left a firm imprint on millions.Sadly, even before the series had wrapped fans faced loss of the actors, before being hit with the loss of the characters too.Some of the teachers fought devastating battles behind the scenes, while others have been able to put their career at the forefront of their focus.Robbie Coltrane, famed for playing Hagrid on the popular film series, is one of the stars who has sadly died after a long career.

To celebrate his life and work, Daily Star has looked back at some of the fan-favourite teachers and where they are now. Robbie Coltrane landed his most famous role as Hagrid on Harry Potter, but after the series wrapped he still had a number of jobs including a stint on National Treasure and Ocean's Twelve.

The star died on October 14, 2022, his agent confirmed, though further details on his passing is yet to be confirmed. In a statement gent Belinda Wright said "My client and friend Robbie Coltrane OBE passed away on Friday October 14."Robbie was a unique talent, sharing the Guinness Book of Records’ Award for winning three consecutive Best Actor Baftas for his portrayal of Fitz in Granada TV’s series Cracker in 1994, 1995 and 1996 with Sir Michael Gambon."He also spoke to Radio Times in recent years following JK Rowling's backlash following criticism over her tweets.

Robbie said: "I don't think what she said was offensive really. I don't know why but there's a whole Twitter generation of people who hang around waiting to be offended.
