Manchester United have made Jack Grealish one of their top summer transfer targets and will continue to pursue a deal when the transfer window re-opens.
Aston Villa are reported to have set an £80m asking price for their captain and talisman. United may not be hit quite as hard financially as other clubs by football’s shutdown, and indeed they have not furloughed staff or requested their players take a wage cut, but nevertheless their spending powers will be reduced compared to ordinary times.
If £80m is deemed too high in the current climate, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could consider including some of his own players as a makeweight in any deal.
