Fans furious as ‘irresponsible’ William Shatner event goes ahead in London amid coronavirus

Fans have voiced their anger and disappointment as it was announced this evening William Shatner’s event at the Eventim Apollo would go ahead amid the deadly spread of coronavirus, despite government warnings about gatherings of more than 500 people.

It comes as the UK’s death toll from coronavirus reached 55, with 1,543 people confirmed to be infected. The actor is in town for a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, before a meet and greet with VIP ticket holders in London tonight.

Despite more and more events, concerts and festivals being postponed or cancelled, the venue confirmed tonight’s screening would be going ahead.
