Edinburgh's Circus Lane named one of the world's 'most beautiful streets'

A Scottish street has been named one of the most beautiful in the world and the most attractive in the UK.

Edinburgh’s Circus Lane ranked as the top British street in the study by estate agent comparison site GetAgent and placed sixth worldwide. The unique research conducted an eye-tracking technology experiment to reveal which of the world’s most beautiful streets are most aesthetically pleasing to the human eye.

The scientific method saw participants asked to examine a set of images depicting over 50 of the world’s most picturesque roads, and AI technology was used to analyse their eye movements in order to rank which streets are truly the most eye-catching.

And Circus Lane came out on top, with the charming Scottish street, with its hanging baskets, colourful front doors and a cobbled street that meanders through the quaint mews houses, seeing participants focussing on it for almost four full seconds, with the image garnering over 272 views overall within the study.

It beat out the likes of Gold Hill in Dorset and Chalcot Crescent in London and even placed higher than the likes of Bourbon Street in New Orleans and Rue de l'Abreuvoir in Paris in the World List.
