Alec Baldwin has quit Twitter after being ridiculed by fans for joking about Gillian Anderson 'switching accents' just weeks after his wife Hilaria was accused of faking her Spanish heritage.

The 62-year-old actor released a 10-minute video after pulling the plug on his social media profile again, as he blamed 'a**holes' for making him quit.

The row kicked off when Alec first tweeted a link to a CNN article about The Crown's Gillian where he wrote: "Switching accents ?

That sounds...fascinating." His wife Hilaria was recently accused of faking a Spanish accent when she was born and raised in Boston.
