XXXTentacion, titled Look At Me!, is set to make its premiere at this year’s SXSW festival.The film — directed by Sabaah Folayan and produced by FADER Films — was announced earlier this month. It follows the controversial career of XXXTentacion (AKA Jahseh Onfroy), a troubled teenager who left a lasting influence on the SoundCloud rap genre.“Look at Me! explores how Florida teenager Jahseh Onfroy became SoundCloud rapper XXXTENTACION, one of the most streamed artists on the planet,” reads the film’s synopsis.“Through frank commentary from family, friends and romantic partners, and unseen archival footage, director Sabaah Folayan offers a sensitive portrayal of an artist whose acts of violence, raw musical talent and open struggles with mental health left an indelible mark on his generation before his death at the age of 20.”The documentary will debut at the film festival segment of SXSW, which takes place in Austin, Texas, from March 11 to March 20.

XXXTentacion (aka Jahseh Onfroy) have re-released one of the late rapper’s formative works, a Soundcloud-era track titled ‘Vice City’.Onfroy initially recorded the song – named for titular Grand Theft Auto game – in 2013, when he was just 15 years old. It later saw inclusion on his debut mixtape ‘XXX (Unmastered)’ the following March, though it was never formally released outside the SoundCloud platform.With the Laura Mvula samples on ‘Vice City’ now cleared by Onfroy’s estate, the song was officially released through Columbia (via the late rapper’s own Bad Vibes Forever imprint) last Thursday (January 27).

Lil Uzi Vert has spoken about collaborating with the late XXXTentacion.In a fan Q&A hosted on Adin Ross’ livestream recently, the rapper said that XXX once reached out to him from behind bars but a release never materialised.“He called me one time when he was incarcerated a long time ago. I was going on stage, I was on tour with The Weeknd and he actually rapped a song for me that he never laid and it was actually really good,” Vert told fans.But after XXX died during an armed robbery in 2018, Vert admitted that he felt “really weird” about working on a posthumous track.“Yes, I’d love to do a song with him but I’m really weird on stuff like that.
