Line of Duty star Martin Compston denies singing sectarian songs at Celtic event in US
Line of Duty star Martin Compston has said he did not sing any sectarian songs after a video of him at a Celtic event in the US went viral. The Scottish actor, 38, said to be a regular visitor to Northern Ireland where Line of Duty was filmed, issued a statement denying any suggestion he was singing sectarian lyrics after a video emerged of him online. The video is believed to have been taken at a Las Vegas hotel on Wednesday night as Celtic football club fans gathered for the annual North American Federation of Celtic Supporters Clubs conference. The incident took place while the 38-year-old was at the North American Celtic Supporters Federation (NACSF) in the US city - where he lives wife Tianna and their young son., who is a club ambassador with the Glasgow side, was filmed on stage in front of fans along with fellow ambassador and actor Gianni Capaldi, 46.The video appears to show the Line of Duty actor joining in celebrations where Celtic fans sang a sectarian chant to the tune of the 1972 hit Beautiful Sunday by Daniel Boone. However, Compston took to social media yesterday (Thursday) afternoon to refute this, saying he "unequivocally did not sing any sectarian songs".The actor said on Twitter: "Not best pleased to wake up to a story 8 hours ahead of me before I've had the right to reply.
