Scotland to ease lockdown letting wider groups meet - but beer gardens stay shut

Scots will now be allowed to meet with up to two other households but plans for beer gardens to reopen have been put on hold.

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon described them as "limited changes" as she urged against moving too quickly. And in bad news for Scottish drinkers Ms Sturgeon said she did not have a date for the reopening of beer gardens - despite hoping that would also happen as part of phase two.

Instead the SNP leader spoke of July 15th as a key date in the lifting of many of the other restrictions. The rules currently state one household can meet another outside, but from tomorrow Scots will be able to meet in groups of up to three households as long as it is outside with a maximum of eight people in the group.
