New logo for 'Women's Network' which 'promotes equality' slammed for looking like penis
penis.Run by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his Cabinet, the Women's Network is supposed to “champion equal opportunity” and promote women's equality. But some think its dark pink logo, with a curly “w” on the left, looks like a male sex organ – or a version of the aubergine emoji which is a common code for a penis. The logo was slammed on social media. One user wrote on Twitter, in reply to the organisation's launch: “Why have the juvenile idiots in your department made male genitalia out of the Women's Network logo?“How hilarious - let's degrade women, again.“Anybody who understands graphic design knows this is deliberate.“Anybody who didn't catch this isn't doing their job.”And a spokesman for the National Older Women's Network Australia said: “I thought this was satire, but it is either thoughtless or an insult.“Public money was spent getting a graphic artist, choosing the designing, selecting colours, approving, printing and publishing this logo for the Prime Minister's and Cabinet's Women's Network. “Poor messaging.”To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up for one of our newsletters here.Australian MP Larissa Waters joined the chorus of those hitting out at the logo.
