Woman births surrogate baby – but his parents don't meet him until he's two years old
Kristie Baysinger, 43, says the situation was further complicated by paperwork getting "lost in the post" and so the infant spent the first two years of his life with a nanny. In a TikTok video, she tells viewers she gave birth to the surrogate baby boy in November 2019 but he ended up getting stuck in the US when his biological mother couldn't fly out to take him home.Kristie, who makes up to $40,000 (£30,700) for each surrogacy, says: "She had three children at home and could not make it to the birth."Covid had also happened so we were dealing with that."Documents were getting lost in the mail that they needed to provide so that he could get home and it was just a mess."Finally, the documents were all cleared and Covid restrictions were lifted.Kristie says: "He stayed with the nanny for two years until it was safe to fly him back to China where he could finally meet his sister that I had given birth to a year before that and his other two siblings and his mum."I mean he was literally two years old and meeting them."The video was watched more than 480,000 times and many viewers felt sorry for the baby being apart from his family for such a long time. One person commented: "Wow. As an early childhood development professional, this breaks my heart.
