ITV weather girl Lucy Verasamy pays tribute to co-star as they quit after lengthy career
Lucy Verasamy has paid tribute to her colleague Jon Mitchell as he retired after 33 years of telling viewers whether it would be wet or sunny.The screen legend, 62, stepped down at the end of July, saying he was excited about spending more time with his family and conducting "extensive research" on some of his local pubs.Lucy, 42, said farewell to the meteorologist in a sweet post on Twitter.READ MORE: GMB weather girl Lucy Verasamy stuns in tight fitted ski gear for winter display"After over 3 decades(!) presenting the weather - the most modest, knowledgeable @JonMitchellTV will be missed," she wrote.Jon, who was first on screen in 1989, announced his retirement earlier this year.He said the job had been "an absolute pleasure" and that he had worked with "wonderful people"."People often ask me what the best part of my job is," he said."It's talking with people that I wouldn't otherwise talk to because they recognise me – I love this because everyone has a story to tell."It's also being able to gaze up at the sky and class it as research.
