The nominations are out for this year’s UK Music Producers Guild Awards, which will be presented on 27 Apr.On the nominations, MPG Executive Director Matt Taylor says: “We’re proud to have reached our fifteenth year at the MPG Awards, and although our industry has changed over that time, we have strived to reflect and celebrate each evolution while focusing on the quality of the work presented, building a more diverse music production community.

Just Mustard have unleashed a brand new single, ‘Seed’ – you can check out the track below.The song is taken from the Irish five-piece’s upcoming second album ‘Heart Under’, which arrives this Friday (May 27) via Partisan and can be pre-ordered here. It follows on from previous single releases ‘Still’, ‘I Am You’ and ‘Mirrors’.The eerie album highlight sees the band experiment with revving twin guitars and a techno-infused rhythm section.“Along with a lot of electronics and noise, I was listening to a lot of music which featured bowed string instruments,” guitarist Mete Kalyoncuoglu said of the song’s inspiration.

It follows on from previous single releases, ‘Still’ and ‘I Am You’.Guitarist and ‘Mirrors’ co-vocalist David Noonan said of the single: “‘Mirrors’ was one of the final songs to be written for Heart Under, the lyrics and music arrived together in what felt like one moment and we wanted to keep the feeling of one thought or moment constant throughout the song”.Check out the new track here:‘Heart Under’ was recorded at Attica Studios in rural Donegal with additional recording and post-production completed at home.The album was produced by the band and mixed by David Wrench, whose previous collaborators include Frank Ocean, Let’s Eat Grandma, Jamie xx and FKA twigs.Just Mustard will tour throughout 2022 and are currently supporting Fontaines D.C.

Nearly a decade ago, singer-songwriter-guitarist Bombino told his longtime manager, Eric Herman, that he wanted to open a recording studio in his home country of Niger. “It is materially a very poor country,” says Herman. “It’s rare to find studios that would be up to world-standard in Africa in general.” Plus, since Bombino — who champions his Tuareg identity and culture in his lyrics — usually spends eight months of the year touring, Herman felt “it needed some sort of outside push to get going.”
