REVIEW: Netflix’s Eurovision film fills the void left by this year’s song contest
very lacking in the trailer.In the words of Graham Norton in the film: ‘Okay, so not as bad as we expected.’Considering the amount of effort gone into capturing the Eurovision properly, we shouldn’t have doubted it would be done well but when it comes to Will Ferrell humour, it can be hit and miss.Thankfully, he is a fan of the song contest (his wife is Swedish and introduced him to it) and even attended the show on a number of occasions as ‘research’ for the film.The attention to detail he and Andrew Steele wrote into the script, and that director David Dobkin included, doesn’t go unnoticed.There’s circular camera panning, pyrotechnics, costume changes, corny video links with the judges votes and the quips from Graham Norton are as on
