Johnny Depp used substances to 'relieve psychic pain' from abusive childhood, says doctor
Johnny Depp's psychiatrist Dr Alan Blaustein has claimed that the Jack Sparrow actor turned to substances during his marriage to Amber Heard to relieve trauma from his abusive childhood.The professional made the claim as the court battle between the Hollywood star, 58, and his ex-wife, 36, rages on. Depp is suing his ex-wife for £38.2 million ($50m) over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018.Dr Blaustein took to the stand where he said he met with the actor 18 times between October 2014 and January 2015, during the height of the former couple's turbulent relationship.In the conversations the pair had, the doctor told the court how Johnny discussed the abuse he received in his childhood.He said to the court: "The relationship he was in reminded him of his relationship with his psychotic sister and his mum."His drug use, turning to drugs helped relieve the psychic pain he was experiencing."Johnny had issues with marijuana, alcohol and opiates including oxycontin, Dr Blaustien testified in court.He also testified that the "paranoid" actor spoke to him about the pair's "very chaotic" relationship, which was filled with "lots of anger" towards his ex-wife.Dr Blaustein said: "It was a very chaotic relationship with a lot of fluctuations, ups and downs.
