Mesut Ozil doesn't appear to have a future at Arsenal, with the club looking for a way to buy him out of his £18million contract.

Mirror Sport understands that the Gunners wish to either pay him off or subsidise his £350,000-a-week wages and allow him to move to another club.

Ozil is one of Arsenal's best players on his day, but Mikel Arteta hasn't seen enough from the German to gift him a place in his first team.

As a result, the midfielder has been frozen out since March, and there is no place for him in Arteta's squad going into the new season.

Arteta hasn't openly addressed why he has seemingly given up on trying to fit Ozil into his starting XI, but he inadvertently explained his reasons back in December 2019.
